Maternal health in rural acute care settings presents unique challenges that require nurses to think critically, act independently, and apply evidence-based care with flexibility.
This course is designed to prepare nursing students to assess, manage, and evaluate maternal health conditions within the context of limited resources and reduced access to specialized care. Through various activities, students will learn to identify common maternal risk factors, implement care plans that reflect current best practices, and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Emphasis will be placed on adapting care strategies to meet the needs of rural populations, enhancing safety, and promoting equitable maternal care in under-resourced environments.
